August 2, 2014, Los Angeles Compassionate Heart Sit-a-thon

The Los Angeles Compassionate Heart Sangha will hold a fund raising Sit-A-Thon on August 2.

Sangha members will rotate in sitting meditation for an hour at a time, and are asking friends and relatives to support their effort by contributing the Nunnery Project on their behalf.  Here is their appeal. Please support their efforts.

Dear Friend,

I’d like to share an event with you.

On Saturday, August 2, 2014, I am joining my local sangha, practitioners of mindfulness in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, in a marathon of continuous meditation.

As Los Angeles area sanghas, we are very fortunate to receive direct transmission of our teacher’s teaching through regular practice and retreats with a dedicated group of monks and nuns at Deer Park monastery, in Escondido, California.

The marathon of meditation (aka the ‘LACH sangha sit-a-thon’) is to benefit all beings. Also, at this time, our cause is to support the long anticipated (twelve plus years) arrival of a sustainable home for our dear sisters. To offer you a sense of who they are, we’ve attached a flyer below and a video.

Will you consider sponsoring my participation in the sit-a-thon?

To make a donation please click on the link below and the blue DONATE button. In the gift notes, kindly write:

LACH sangha sit-a-thon so I may be able to thank you.

If you’d prefer to write a check, please make it out to: The Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation and mail it to: 2499 Melru Lane, Escondido, CA 92026. (again, please specify the sit-a-thon).
